JEE Advance
You
might be aware that the candidates aspiring to join the IITs have to
first clear JEE Main examination.Only top 1,50,000 candidates (including
all reservations) based on the performance in the JEE Main examination
will be considered as qualified to appear for the JEE Advanced
examination.
The various categories from which the candidates of are selected are as given bellow
50.5%
from the common merit lis.This is approximately accounts for 75,750
candidates of General Merit.Note that some of the reserved category
candidates may also be included in this list.
27% from the OBC-NCL merit list.About 40,500 candidates of the OBC-NCL fall in to this.

and 7.5% from the SC and ST merit lists respectively will call for
22,500 canidates from the SC category and 11,250 candidates from the ST
category.
persons with Disability(PwD) will from 3% of each of the above given merit list.
The
cadidates belonging to reserved categories but appear in the common
merit list will not be included in their respective category list.
Paper pattern
Paper-1 time 3 hrs
Paper-2 time 3 hrs
1.Is objective in nature.
2.Will have separate sections fo Physics,Chemistry and mathematics.
3.Will test comprehension,reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
4.May have section where incorrect answers will attract negative marking
The
answer sheet will be a two-sheet carbonless paper-the upper one is the
ORS. The correct answers has to be marked by darkening the bubbles using
black point pen only on the upper sheet.The lower sheet can be taken by
the student with the invigilators permission.
Number of Attempts
A candidate can take JEE ADVANCE maximum 2 times in consecutive years.
